Edwards Retriever Training is proud to offer professional retriever training and handling at all levels of AKC Field Trials. We limit the number of dogs in training to 20 so that we can be sure that we are giving all of our dog’s quality training. Our Training facility consists of 150 acres 2 1/2 miles east of Bonham TX with three training ponds and rolling terrain. We also have access to a variety training land within close proximity of our kennel. We provide use of our property for the two field trials hosted by Red River Retriever Club.

Every dog matures and learns at a different pace, but from our experience, the following is a general guideline as to training time.

Client Information

All dogs are required to have current vaccinations including Bordetella (Kennel Cough).
Charges for Veterinary services are billed directly to you.
We bill monthly, at the end of the month. We bill after the dog has been in training a month.
Monthly rate is $625.00
- Handling Fee for Field Trials - $75.00
- Additional fees: Birds, Preventatives for Heartworm Fees and Ticks.
Please feel free to call and receive an evaluation describing your dog’s progress.
We encourage and welcome owner participation.
If you would like to speak to me personally, please call me at home between the hours of 7-9 P.M. This gives me time with my family.

Results

AFC Windigos Kalamity Kate earned her FC title with an Open win at the Metro Alliance Retriever Club. Kate is owned by Marv (R) and Pat Baumer and handled by Mark Edwards.

PRTA Ethics
The Professional Retriever Trainers Association (PRTA) has a code of ethics that we feel is a good example of retriever training ethics, which we fully support.

We evaluate each retriever fairly to determine that the goal is consistent with the retriever's talents and abilities. We do this on a continuing basis, and will let you, the client, know if the retriever is not capable of the goal you had set for it. Whether in training or at a trial, we demand professionalism and good sportsmanship.

We believe in the fair treatment of our retrievers. We abhor the violence we sometimes see passed on as "tough correction" in retriever training. Humans should not take out their frustrations on their canine companions.

We also believe that a clients ethics, reflect on us as well. We expect our clients to hold and conduct themselves with the same ethical and professional standards as we do.
